KTV-55: NO PROPHET IN ONE'S OWN MOTHERLAND

Part 2
(routes 17 - 23)

[ 1-16 | 17-23 ] [ Kiev Cars ]

17. Zavod Bolshevik - Ul. Semyi Sosninyh

Route 17 used to connect Borschagovka with the metro via Bulvar Lepse and the speed tram line. At the Zavod Bolshevik loop is a unique car, the first in the series and the only one with "MTV-style" windows. (Trailer 1010 is attached to it.)
[Wolfgang Schreiner, 05.1977]
1116 with trailer at Brest-Litovskiy Prospect, near the Garmatnaya stop; behind it is MTV-82 1257.
[Hans Oerlemans, 10.09.1978]
1126, now bearing the new livery, at Gnata Yury. Two months later this route will no longer be here.
[Hans Oerlemans, 10.09.1978]
23. Dvorets Sporta - Svyatoshino

Another big 'consumer' of Kiev cars was route 23, which ran along Saksaganskogo and Brest-Litovskiy Prospekt. The next two pictures of the same train at the same spot, evidently, are taken by two different authors at the same time.
[Wolfgang Schreiner, 05.1977]
The place is the Dvorets Sporta terminus, short of the round-the-block loop at Rognedinskaya-Esplanadnaya-Basseynaya-Shota Rustaveli.
[Dieter Küllmer, 1977]
Turning from Saksaganskogo into Kominterna. Earlier, this route used to go straight ahead towards Ploschad Pobedy. Now there are no trams here at all.
[Wolfgang Schreiner, 09.1974]
The next three pictures are taken on one and the same spot. 1112 is another unique car: apart from all sister cars, it had no rear door, but had a middle door just like the double-ended KTV-55-2.
[Wolfgang Schreiner, 09.1974]
1113, which we have already met ...
[Wolfgang Schreiner, 09.1974 (?)]
... and 1117, still with a trailer. All the cars were captured at Zhilyanskaya, between Kominterna and Ploschad Pobedy. In 2001, Kiev officials have withdrawn trams from here (although the line itself survives, so far).
[Wolfgang Schreiner, 05.1977]
A stretch we have already seen, behind the Ukraina Department Store, short of the branching. This train will proceed straight ahead, like route 1, but will then turn right, away from the speed tram line and into Brest-Litovskiy Prospekt.
[Rolf-Roland Scholze]
The only known picture of car 1125, at the Kremenetskaya stop, not so far from the Svyatoshino terminus.
[Kievskiy Elektrotransportnik weekly, 1959]
The Svyatoshino loop, almost in the middle of a forest.
[Wolfgang Schreiner, 09.1974]
Others

The brand-new train 1110+1010, opening the series, still in the factory (apparently in 1955).
[Kiev Electric Transportation Museum]
A likewise brand-new 1119+1019(?), at the same plant.
[Kiev Electric Transportation Museum]
The interior of 1116, looking forward. The driver's cabin looks exactly like in the MTV and double-sided KTV.
[Aare Olander, 06.1981]
The only surviving KTV-55 is 1113, which we saw before. It was transferred to Donetsk, where is works as a service car, numbered T-12, to this day.
