Speed tram line |
| | The first piece of the speed tram line,
between today's Ploschad Pobedy and Vozduhoflotskaya stations.
Right where the photographer stands, there used to
be the remnants of the Evbaz (Jewish Market)
and poor neighborhoods.
Seen on the Vozduhoflotsky Bridge is a two-car
trolleybus on route 8 or 9. [Michael Taplin, 12.09.1978] |
|
| | A brand-new three-car train on route 3
approaches the Vozduhoflotskaya station.
On the right, not far from a recently lifted tram branching
to the Brest-Litovsky Prospekt line, the Marriage Palace
is being built.
[Michael Taplin, 12.09.1978] |
|
| | A classic spot, featured on many photos
and postcards — the branching at Gnata Yury.
Not much has changed here; just that Tatras on route 1
have replaced MTV-82s from route 17, and the slogan
on raising agriculture is gone.
[Michael Taplin, 11.09.1978] |
|
| | A view from about the same spot
towards the southern stretch of the speed line, along
Ul. Kartvelishvili. The inscription on the car bumper
says "1-30-VIII Traffic Security Audit".
[Michael Taplin, 11.09.1978] |
|
| | The old loop of route 17,
later route 1, called Ul. Semyi Sosninyh
(later Ul. Zodchih). The line was prolonged
from here to its present-day terminus of
Mikhailovskaya Borschagovka in 1984. [Michael Taplin, 11.09.1978] |
|
| | A KTV+KTP train at the same loop.
Route 17 used to run from here to the Zavod Bolshevik
(Shulyavskaya) metro station, via Bulvar Lepse
and Brest-Litovsky Prospekt. [Michael Taplin, 11.09.1978] |
|
Krasnaya (Kontraktovaya) Ploschad |
| | The Krasnaya Ploschad (north)
terminal. The photo is taken in the period when
route 11, among others, ended here; later on,
its terminus was moved further north. [Michael Taplin, 09.1978] |
|
| | The southern Krasnaya Ploschad terminal.
Emergency cars AV-1 (a rebuilt Pullman) and another
one (a rebuilt KTV-55-2).
[Michael Taplin, 14.01.1976] |
|
| | Another service (electric welding) car,
rebuilt from an old two-axle one, pulls a two-axle platform.
This is a connection between the northern and southern
Krasnaya Ploschad termini, not used for revenue traffic
at the time.

Naberezhnaya and the Left Bank |
| | A rather rare picture:
a train of two unrebuilt (with a single headlight) T-2s.
This is at the Dnepr metro station (view from the
southern platform) on route 28.
[Michael Taplin, 14.01.1976] |
|
| | The intersection of Prosp. Gagarina
and Ul. Usenko: a train of two double-door T-3s on route 33,
the back of a T-2, a train on Usenko, and three trams
far away. There are no tram tracks here today;
trams have been moved onto parallel streets.
[Michael Taplin, 12.09.1978] |
|
| | One of the first batch of T-3,
on route 29 short of the Miropolskaya loop.
[Michael Taplin, 09.1978] |
|
| | Entering the same loop; serving the
same route here is the third T-2 in the city (5002
was the first one).
[Michael Taplin, 12.09.1978] |
|
| | The "country-style" section of route 29,
along Tashkentskaya. The street itself is rather virtual...
[Michael Taplin, 12.09.1978] |
|
| | A row of cars, with T-2 5025
at the head, at Darnitsa Depot. All or almost all of the T-2s
have already been rebuilt; instead of a single headlight,
they now have two. [Michael Taplin, 12.09.1978] |
|
| | The same place, the old territory
of the depot. Train 5033+5041 is about to enter service
on route 22. [Michael Taplin, 12.09.1978] |
|
| | Service car GM-3,
loaded apparently with rails and ties, turns onto
the territory of track maintenance service,
next to the Darnitsa Depot.
Visible behind it is another similar car,
turning from Sergienko onto Usenko (today,
all revenue service cars run on these tracks). [Michael Taplin, 12.09.1978] |
