By way of disposing of its own cars, Kiev gave away
a number of them to other cities. A few ended up in Konotop,
where this 65 is depicted on route 3, at that time possessing
a stub track.

In Kiev itself, the history of KTV-55-2's as passenger cars
(single-ended cars and trailers were withdrawn even earlier)
ended up together with the history of route 8 when car 2020
(remember?) pulled into the depot. A commemorative photo with that car
in the background.

The car itself was not scrapped and continued to be used as a service car.
In 1992, it took part in a 100th anniversary parade along
Naberezhnoye Shosse and Pochtovaya Ploschad, just next
to Vladimirsky Descent...

... however, time has not spared the relic.
In its present state, basically all that remains of the 2020
is the body. Although, all is not lost as yet,
and the unique car could still be restored.

Some other ones got more lucky.
The car's being double-ended makes it especially valuable
as a rescue car, and it is thanks to this that some KTVs
are still functional nowadays, like this AV-2.

Deprived of some doors and windows and in a different livery,
it is nonetheless readily recognizable as the former hero
of routes 8, 16, and 30.

Its "colleague", the AV-3, was not just as lucky,
with its original **kuzov** gone (but another pantograph added).
It is recognizable as a KTV-55-2 by its emergency brake trigger
in the lower front part.

Finally, the only single-ended KTV-55 (ex-1113) to survive,
did so because it was sent to Donetsk where it works to
this day as a rail-welding car by number T-12.
(The source erroneously calls it a double-ended KTV-55-2.)
There is an idea to return it to its native town
as a museum car...
