1362 | | Once again, the southern loop at Kontraktovaya Ploschad,
with Klub Pischevikov and Kontraktovy Dom visible in the background.
The scene has not much changed today, even the tram tracks remaining...
except that the square is now flooded by scores of jitneys. [Raymond De Groote, Jr., 11.07.1959] |

1364 | | Turning from Dmitrievskaya onto Bulvarno-Kudryavskaya,
towards Ploschad Pobedy. The car on route 9 has just discharged
passengers at the stop just short of the turn, and proceeds towards
Saksaganskogo and on to Demievka. [Hans Oerlemans, 10.09.1978] |
|
1365 | | Next to the Philharmonic Society building,
at Ploschad Stalina (Evropeyskaya). Workers are doing some repair
on the roadway, right behind the tram that just passed them;
a MAZ 205 dump truck is leaving the Philharmonic Society backyard. [Anatoly Vilkovich collection, 1950's] |
|
1369 | | The intersection of Saksaganskogo and Tolstogo.
Tracks turning left as the tram goes were only used for route 8
pullins and pullouts back then; no regular service ran along them.
Later on, they would have route 8K, subsequently renumbered 5,
use them, followed by all routes that ran here, all the way up
to the termination of tram service on Saksaganskogo. [Hans Oerlemans, 10.09.1978] |
  |
1370 |  | The new residential buildings at Obolon;
route 16, which just came here. An interesting engineering
decision was applied on this line: tram tracks were lifted
above the pavement level, so that pedestrian crossings
underneath did not require any stairs. [Hans Oerlemans, 12.09.1978] |
|
1371 | | Next to the Dnepr Metro Station.
A standard Soviet-style sculpture, a soda water dispensing machine,
and simplistic sheds of a fishermen's market. [Wolfgang Schreiner, 06.1961] |
  |
1374 | | Zhilyanskaya, short of the crossing with
Starovokzalnaya. A tram on route 13 is bound for Vokzal. [Wolfgang Schreiner, 08.1973] |
    |
1375 | | Menzhinskogo (Dmitrievskaya), near the
Poltavskaya stop. A huge oak grows right next to the tram tracks
— passing cars are all but brushing its trunk... [Aare Olander, 22.05.1981] |
|
1377 | | The Krasnaya (Kontraktovaya) Ploschad loop.
The two cars bear the rather short-lived yellow-and-blue livery
which is going to be declared "nationalistic", and
the cars ordered repainted yellow-and-red. [Wolfgang Schreiner, 08.1973] |
|
1379 | | Serving route 23 along Saksaganskogo.
Running parallel to the tram is a Moskvich 412, one of the
classical Soviet-era cars. [Wolfgang Schreiner, 08.1973] |
|
1380 | | The "uncatchable" route 25.
It was the longest route of the time (24-odd kilometers one way),
served by a single car — thus, several runs a day, on
a headway of 166 minutes. It has been captured here leaving
the Puscha-Voditsa loop. [Hans Oerlemans, 12.09.1978] |
|
1381 | | On Dmitrievskaya — one of the few spots throughout
the city where the lines were built by Austro-Hungarian standards,
next to sidewalks. Trams still run here today. [Michael Taplin, 11.09.1978] |
|
1382 | | The then-new construction at Ploschad Pobedy,
former Yevbaz. Tram tracks in this picture are also relatively new;
four years before the photo was taken, trams ran straight,
on Dmitrievskaya-Saksaganskogo. [State Photo Archive of Ukraine, 01.1963] |
